Retail Salesperson

August 2017 • San Francisco, CA

What I liked

I do like that I get to be in the apple environment and you get amazing discounts and perks.

What I wish was different

I wish it was explained how much work it was actually going to be rather than describing it as lite sales work.

Advice

Be prepared to work fulltime. While you may designate part time hours you will be asked tow ork full time so if you are working during the semester then don't take classes.

Software Engineering Intern

May - August 2019 • Cupertino, CA

What I liked

My team gave me flexibility in choosing my project, and was extremely helpful in supporting my progress throughout!

What I wish was different

Nothing at Apple itself, but the location of headquarters isn't ideal for me.

Advice

Don't be intimidated by not having experience with certain technologies, teams hire based on how much they think you're a good fit for the team, not whether you're skilled in certain programming languages.

Product Zone Specialist

August 2018 • Birmingham, AL

What I liked

I love my job because it is my dream company and I am getting to experience it from the ground up. I also love the culture, we all care about one another and try to ensure good work/life balance.

What I wish was different

I wish Auburn and the Apple store were closer so I didn’t have the 2 hour drive.

Advice

I would say to not underestimate the work. Just because “it’s retail” does NOT mean it’s easy or simple. It is extremely challenging and requires you to be an expert on an incredibly large range of subjects that are constantly changing and evolving. It is more of a consulting job when you get down to it.

The environment and the ability to help others daily is extremely fulfilling and having customers tell you that you've helped them with something they didn't think would be fixed is a great feeling.

What I wish was different

Advice

It gets tough and it's a long road to gain experience and learn, but it's worth it if you're passionate and driven!

What I liked

The environment of Apple is amazing. The management is superior to other places I have worked. Everyone there cares about your personal life and your personal goals. They want you to be you outside of the Apple doors. They don't care about your background or what you look like, they invest in YOU. Which to me, has pushed me in so many ways as a person and a leader.

What I wish was different

The only thing I wish would be different would be the hours. The Apple store is a retail job, so sometimes, the hours can vary quite a bit. I would love for it to be slightly more consistent, and it has been lately the more they get to know you and your routine. And unlike other retail jobs, there really is never a shortage of hours.

Advice

If you want a part-time job that provides you an amazing experience that will teach you real life skills such as leadership, positioning, patience, empathy, etc., then Apple is definitely at the top of my list. The pay is great, and the management works with you. However, this isn't an "easy" job. So you will need to put in quite a bit of work, so just be prepared.

I would recommend trying to become friends with people on your team.
