Research Volunteer

November 2017 • Miami, FL

What I liked

I love that I am actively participating in a lab setting outside of my school requirements. I can apply what i have learned and continue to fortify my conviction in wanting to be a science major in the first place.

What I wish was different

Advice

Always be willing to put yourself out there, because people will surprise you. Professors want to incorporate more student participation, but the first step is on the part of the student.

What I liked

What I wish was different

Advice

One piece of advice I would share about this experience is not to be afraid of getting involved. At first, it can be intimidating because it is a research lab but try to get to know the person who is running the actual research because if your interested in persuing graduate school or even doing any research yourself they can really menotor you or help you gain experience. they can also keep your for the following semster which is even a better experiecne.

Attending virtual senate meetings, learning how to write legislation, brainstorming initiatives, and seeing how senators vote on legislation.

What I wish was different

More involvement from Senators to LA's, maybe even a mentorship program so the LA's can become Senators.
