ELI Marketing Intern - Center for Global Engagement
About the Office:
Reporting directly to the Office of the Provost, the Center for Global Engagement works to lead, coordinate, and support the university’s strategies for global education, research, and engagement.
Our responsibilities include:
- Developing and managing international partnerships
- Welcoming and assisting international students and scholars
- Providing education abroad opportunities for our students
- Creating international and inter-cultural programming for the campus and the broader community
About the VOLinternship Program:
The VOLintern Program is UTK's on-campus internship program. Each internship will run for the duration of one academic semester. About the Internship:
The Center for Global Engagement (CGE) is seeking a marketing intern to support the work of the English Language Institute (ELI). The intern will work under the direction of the Marketing Manager with direction from ELI staff. Tasks include but are not limited to creation or collaboration for photo and video support, flyer layout and design, website and newsletter writing, social media content creation, student and alumni profiles, and press release writing. This position will also be involved in crafting marketing plans for various ELI initiatives with the support of the Center for Global Engagement communications team and ELI staff.
Internship Responsibilities:
- Produce media kits for ELI programming to be distributed locally and to international partners
- Assist ELI staff in website content management
- Monitor social media channels for engagement opportunities
- Create social media content in coordination with CGE staff and other student staff.
- Take photos and video for ELI activates
- Interview ELI students and partners for testimonials
- Assist ELI and CGE staff in implementing and refining marketing plan for ELI initiatives
Qualifications:
- Junior/Senior
- Communication Skills
- Willingness to learn about international education related to work of ELI
- Familiarity with AP style writing
- Knowledge of social media platforms
- Understanding of social media analytics and ability to learn more
- Familiarity with social media management platforms or ability to learn new software
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Knowledge of Canva or other platforms
- Preferred Majors: PR, Marketing, or related communications field
