Hiring Instructors for Saturday Academy!
Program Dates: Jan, 2025-May 9, 2026
The USC Upward Bound program is an intense academic, social, and cultural experience
for high school students from 5 LAUSD high schools. The purpose of the program is to
assist first-generation, college-bound high school students to prepare to succeed in
postsecondary education.
This academic year, USC Upward Bound is looking to hire instructors to provide
instruction to program participants during Saturday Academy. Instructors must be
able to teach at the high school/college preparatory level in the following
areas: English, Math (Algebra I & II, Geometry), College Seminar.
Concentration in these areas will depend on the level of expertise of the instructor.
Job Description:
• Develop course curriculum including student learning outcomes outlined in a
syllabus
• Prepare engaging, fun, and informative lessons on the given subject
(out of classroom learning experiences highly encouraged)
• Assess student knowledge via pre and post testing, quizzes, projects, etc.
• Report student progress and behavior to UB staff including program director and
program coordinators
• Attend staff meetings
Qualifications:
• Must have a bachelor’s degree, credential, or master’s degree (preferred but not
necessary)
• Must enjoy working with high school-aged students
• Available to work Saturdays between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. for
approximately 4 hrs. per week.
• Must have at least 1-2 years of actual teaching experience in a classroom setting.
Starting Rate: $35/hour
