Behavior Technician
Pay: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour
Job description:
The Behavior Agency is looking for a part-time Behavior Technician (BT) to provide ABA therapy part-time. As a BT, you will be providing direct implementation of Natural Developmental Behavioral Interventions (NDBI), utilizing the principles of ABA, to individuals with autism and related disabilities, under the direct supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Each behavior technician will be part of a small clinic team led by a BCBA.
The mission of The Behavior Agency is to provide high-quality, and individualized, ABA therapy, using Pivotal Response Teaching (PRT) and other evidence-based Naturalistic Developmental Behavioral Interventions (NDBI) to individuals with autism and related developmental disabilities.
- Schedule Monday - Friday (morning and afternoon times)
- Pay is $24-$26/hour, DOE.
- Training is paid at minimum wage, and is approximately two weeks in length.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct ABA therapy to individuals with autism or developmental disabilities in the home and/or community settings.
- Implement treatment plans and behavior intervention strategies under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
- Collect and record data on client progress and behavior.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical documentation and records.
- Attend all required initial and ongoing job trainings and team meetings.
- Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures and abide by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) code of ethics.
- Keep all scheduled appointments and attempt to schedule make-up sessions for canceled appointments. We are providing a medically-necessary service, and our clients depend on us
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a high school diploma, college coursework preferred
- At least 18 years of age
- Desire to work with individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and related disabilities
- Must be compassionate and professional
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Effective time management skills
- Pass background check
- Must have a reliable car, with a valid driver’s license, and be willing to drive to various neighborhoods around town
- Must be willing to work in a variety of client homes and the community.
- Must be willing to work with clients that may engage in challenging behaviors in the form of hitting, throwing items, and/or attempting to escape from the area or building; formal training will be provided for staff working with these clients.
- Must be available 6:30pm at least 3 days/week
- Must be able to operate an electronic device to convert scheduled appointments, collect data, communicate via email, etc.
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Must be able to lift 30-35 pounds, and maintain a variety of postures and positions for extended periods of time (i.e., sitting, kneeling, crawling, standing, walking, etc.)
- Spanish-speaking preferred for bi-lingual or Spanish-speaking families (but not required)
Work Location: In person
