Field Service Technician Assistant (Pest Control) — Part-Time

About Falcon Pest Control

Falcon is a Utah-based pest control company built on Board Certified Entomologist (BCE) standards. We serve homeowners, HOAs, property managers, and institutional clients across the Wasatch Front using science-driven Integrated Pest Management — not high-pressure sales tactics. The owner has 21+ years of pest control operations leadership and personally trains every technician.

The Role

Assist a licensed pest control technician on residential and commercial service routes. This is a hands-on, in-the-field role designed for students who want real exposure to applied entomology, IPM, customer service, and small-business operations. You will work alongside a licensed technician under direct supervision — not solo apply pesticides — while building hours toward your own Utah Pesticide Applicator License (training and exam fees paid by Falcon after 90 days of employment).

What You'll Do

  • Ride along with a licensed technician on scheduled residential and commercial routes
  • - Assist with equipment setup, vehicle organization, and inventory
  • - Document service stops with photos and notes in our digital CRM
  • - Inspect and label exterior bait stations using our alphanumeric mapping protocol
  • - Perform exterior service tasks under direct supervision (web removal, perimeter sweep, station servicing)
  • - Engage professionally with customers at the door
  • - Maintain a clean, organized service vehicle
  • - Learn IPM principles, Utah pest biology, and field protocols

What You'll Learn

  • Applied entomology and IPM under a Board Certified Entomologist
  • - The Utah commercial pesticide applicator pathway (training reimbursed)
  • - Structural and landscape pest inspection
  • - Field-grade CRM and route software
  • - Professional customer communication in a service-industry context

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled at BYU or UVU
  • - 18 years of age or older
  • - Valid Utah driver's license with a clean driving record
  • - Able to lift 40 lbs, walk 5+ miles/day, and work outdoors in summer heat
  • - Reliable transportation to Bluffdale meeting point (service vehicle provided for routes)
  • - Willing to obtain a Utah Pesticide Applicator License within 90 days (Falcon pays training and exam fees)
  • - Professional appearance and communication

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Coursework or interest in biology, environmental science, agriculture, or facilities management
  • - Spanish language ability
  • - Prior customer service or trades experience

What We Offer

  • $20–$22/hour W-2 employment — no commission, no sales quotas
  • - 15–20 hours/week scheduled around your classes
  • - Paid Utah Pesticide Applicator License training after 90 days
  • - One-on-one mentorship from a Board Certified Entomologist
  • - Defined pathway to full technician role at higher pay after licensing + competency check
  • - Uniform, gear, and equipment provided
  • - Weekly direct deposit
