Mechanical Designer

We are looking for a talented Mechanical Designer to join our growing Engineering team.

Position Summary

The Mechanical Designer is responsible for developing detailed 2D drawings and 3D CAD models for mechanical components and assemblies used in LU-VE's heat exchangers, cooling systems, and related equipment. This position works closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure designs are accurate, manufacturable, and aligned with customer and business requirements.

What You'll Do

  • Design mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Create detailed fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Apply GD&T principles and engineering standards to all designs.
  • Modify existing products to support engineering changes, customer requests, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with engineers and manufacturing teams to improve product performance, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.
  • Support prototype development, product testing, and production implementation.
  • Work with suppliers on material selection and technical specifications.
  • Maintain engineering documentation within the Product Data Management (PDM) system.
  • Assist in developing design standards, templates, and best practices.

Qualifications Required

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Design, Mechanical Engineering, Drafting Technology, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of mechanical design experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design, fabrication, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience creating detailed drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in HVAC, heat exchangers, industrial equipment, or thermal systems.
  • Knowledge of aluminum, copper, and steel fabrication.
  • Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) or Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
  • Familiarity with engineering change management and revision control.
