Cyber Vulnerability Researcher (Security Engineering)


The MIL Corporation seeks a Cyber Vulnerability Researcher (Security Engineering) to perform reverse engineering on binaries associated with avionics systems while supporting our Federal Government client on-site at the Patuxent River, MD location. 

Key Duties

  • Working closely with our government customer, perform cyber vulnerability research on compiled binaries within embedded systems.
  • Working closely with our government customer, perform cyber vulnerability research on compiled binaries within Windows/Linux environments.
  • Performing static and dynamic analysis.
  • Apply and/or develop highly advanced principles, concepts, and tactics.  Develops information which extends knowledge within the field.
  • Identify issues and vulnerabilities associated with the development and implementation of operational programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Vulnerability research experience, including experience performing binary reverse engineering using tools such as Ghidra & IDA Pro
  • Experience performing both static and dynamic analysis
  • Experience programming in Python
  • Ability to work in a diverse team environment.

Desired Qualifications

  • Cyber related military training courses such as Title 10 Interactive On-Net Operator Course, Joint Cyber Analysis Course (JCAC), and Cyber Operations Specialist Qualification Course.
  • Experience programming in C, C++
  • Master level working knowledge of assembly language
  • Experience performing binary patching is a plus.
  • Experience performing malware analysis is a plus.
  • Experience performing software exploitation is a major plus.


Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering, systems engineering, computer engineering or computer science  from an ABET accredited college. A Master’s degree in a related technical discipline may be substituted for five (5) years of experience (e.g. a 10 year experience requirement may be satisfied with a Master’s degree and 5 years of experience).


All applicants for this position must possess a current Top-Secret clearance and be SCI eligible; please note that the clearance process takes into account financial background aspects.

Salary at MIL is determined based on factors such as qualifications, experience, and contractual limitations. For this position, the projected compensation range is $94,674 -$181,487 per year. This estimate represents the typical salary range and is just one part of MIL’s complete compensation package.  

Levels: Senior Analyst, Associate, Senior Associate

The level will be determined based on experience and qualifications
