LEO Fellows Program Application (Fall 2024 - Spring 2025)

The LEO Events Fellows Program is an exclusive and experiential 1-year apprenticeship program open to  students in the College of Communication and Information and the College of Education Health and Human Sciences who are interested in pursuing a career in corporate event strategy, promotion, or production. Fellows will develop and apply skills to effectively plan, execute, promote, and produce corporate events through hands-on training, elevated professional development, and mentorship from industry professionals. 

Fellows serve in the position for one full year, starting Fall 2024 – Spring 2025 with an option to gain hands-on experience in the Summer 2025.

As a LEO Fellow, you will participate in:

  • Three professional development sessions over the year
    • Two LEO Labs taught by LEO events professional staff and one Career Development session with your college.

 

  • At least one on-site experiential opportunity with LEO Events offered in the Fall, Spring, and Summer. Paid at $20/hour. Travel, lodging, and meals provided.

 

  • LEO Fellows Showcase & Celebration - an industry celebration reception hosted by LEO Events and produced by the Fellows for up to 100 guests, consisting of LEO Fellows, all students registered in the event minor, and faculty. Industry leaders will be present for you to make connections for potential employment and experiences.

 

  • Fellows will receive mentorship that will allow them to seek career advice, develop insights into industry best practices, and aid with networking opportunities.

 

Fellows will receive a $1,200 stipend in addition to the payment for working at your LEO sponsored experience. 

 

Fellows who receive positive feedback while on-site will be first-in line for additional experiences with LEO events, allowing you to gain additional leadership experience, as your schedule allows. 

Qualifications to apply:

  • Resume and Cover letter that outlines a commitment or interest in the field.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Customer service experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Researching and writing experience.
  • Self-directed and able to work without supervision.
  • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects.
  • Event planning experience is preferred, but not required.
