NPI ENGINEER

 

Reports to: NPI Manager

Location: Dalton, GA

Classification: Salary Exempt

 

SUMMARY

The NPI Engineer must provide direction, guidance, and support to all the shift and day Process Technicians related to the new material implementation. The NPI Engineer will apply continuous improvement methodology to enhance plant operations, supporting the specific plant goals in operational effectiveness (OE), job effectiveness (JE), safety and quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Develop and implements new Product and Materials.
  • Project management related to new material management.
  • Market research and competitor technology research on the materials.
  • Develop engineering documentation: PFMEA, Control Plans, Work Instructions, etc.
  • Initiates process improvement projects to increase efficiency, reduce costs, improve quality and defect analysis.
  • Execute all required duties while practicing safe work methods and adhering to all plant safety rules.
  • Be the driver in investigating, proposing, procuring and launching new process and operations improvements (flexible automation and manual equipment) by developing specific metrics and conducting necessary audits.
  • Assist development of technical training plan for process engineering and continuous improvement methodology (Six Sigma, Lean, etc.).
  • Develop troubleshooting guides for maintenance and operations personnel for line use. Train and deploy these in the plant.
  • Actively participate with the EHS team to lead projects that improve worker safety and minimize incident risk.
  • Function as a change agent and systematically drive and implement change through cross-functional efforts between the safety, manufacturing, and quality resource.
  • Develop and maintain regular reports consistent with departmental needs to track progress and drive action on plant improvements.
  • Support skill-up of engineer level with mentoring and helping engineering qualification.
  • Planning and executing team tasks.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of Hanwha Q CELLS USA, Inc.
  • Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned by management.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering related field.
  • Proven technical acumen.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to stand and walk the production area throughout the workday
  • Able to lift to 50 pounds without restriction
  • Reaching, pushing, pulling, or lifting as required within limits set by Q Cells
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to filter “Big Data” and interpret for data driven decision making.
  • Ability to manage the projects and groups as a leader.
  • Experience with Process management with manufacturing process
  • Management or running experience in manufacturing site.
  • Extensive experience implementing new programs and data systems.
  • Ability to utilize abstract reasoning techniques to build reporting logic and establish creative solutions to new problems.
  • Ability to learn various software applications required for quality and performance reporting and analysis.
  • The ability to work with ambiguous data sets and information, using people skills and intuition to navigate solutions.
  • Bilingual in Chinese and English.
