Engagement Intern, McClung Museum
Join the McClung Museum team this summer! We seek a UT student who can contribute to our mission of enhancing accessibility at the museum by designing and implementing interpretation and education materials for individuals with disabilities.
As an intern, you will collaborate with the Manager of Education & Community Engagement to design and implement accessibility initiatives based upon learning objectives that are chosen together. The project will be tailored to ensure the museum, and its exhibits are more welcoming for guests. Projects may include touch objects for gallery engagement, audio guides, sensory certification, or something else entirely. Bring your inspiration and ideas!
This is a unique opportunity to combine creativity, empathy, and design skills to help make the museum engaging for everyone!
Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and in good academic standing.
- Must have experience with or a demonstrated interest in education, community engagement, museum studies, and/or accessibility.
- Experience with or a demonstrated interest in design and design technology is also preferred.
Expectations:
- The successful candidate will start on May 27 and the term will end on August 12, mirroring the UT’s 2025 summer semester.
- They are expected to work a cumulative 15 hours a week (180 hours total).
- They must be able to work in person at the museum for the majority of their term.
- The weekly schedule will occur sometime between 9am-5pm Monday through Friday but will be determined together with the Manager of Education & Community Engagement.
