Job Description

Position Title: Accountant, Permanent Support Staff 2025/2026 SY(Anticipated)

Location: Chancellor Center

Available: July 1, 2025   

Hours/Schedule: 7.5 hrs. per day/ 5 days per week/261 days per yr.

SUMMARY:

Applies principles of accounting to prepare financial reports, maintain records and reconcile journals by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maintains accounting records, up to posting to the trial balance, for Construction, Capital Reserve, Student Activities and Food Service Funds
  2. Prepares all PDE required reporting for the Food Service Fund.
  3. Reconciles current and delinquent real estate tax reports received from elected and third-party collectors on a monthly basis and maintains accounting records.
  4. Reconciliation of bank statements.
  5. Maintains records for various accounts/ funds.
  6. Maintains audit schedules.
  7. Performs journal entries, wire transfers, posts deposits, voids checks and processes stop payments.
  8. Prepares and files IRS Form 1099 on an annual basis.
  9. Downloads and posts Keystone Collection deposits for Earned Income Tax and Local Service Tax.
  10. Provides internal audit functions as requested by the Assistant Director of Business Administration or the Director of Business Administration.
  11. Other projects and tasks as assigned by the Assistant Director of Business Administration & Director of Business Administration.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.

  

MATHEMATICAL and TECHNOLOGICAL SKILLS:

  1. Must be able to calculate quantities and currencies such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages and averages.
  2. Must be able to apply concepts of mathematics in practical office applications.
  3. Must be able to use a calculator and computer programs to assist in data processing and preparation of reports.
  4. Must be very proficient in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Microsoft Excel, and demonstrate mastery of more complex formulas within Excel.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  2. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  3. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community.
  4. Must be able to multi-task in a fast paced environment with specific deadlines.

REQUIRED PAPERWORK: In order to begin employment in any PA public school, all employees are required to complete mandatory paperwork. Background employment clearances must be completed within the last year to be valid and include:

Some additional paperwork includes Arrest/Conviction Report form, PA Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure (Act 168), physician’s health form and recently completed TB test.
