Business Analyst Intern I

OVERVIEW

As an SLC student intern team member, the business analyst intern will develop data reports to share engagement metrics for social media, websites, email marketing, and environmental advertising. This internship will provide experience in professional data reporting, preparing students for future analytics, marketing, or content creation positions.

 

POSITION DETAILS

The Business Analyst Intern I will work collaboratively and independently among a team of students and staff (undergraduates and professionals). As the Business Analyst Intern I, this student will:

Data Collection: the Business Analyst Intern I is responsible for pulling data reports on a regular schedule from a variety of sources including, but not limited to engagement on social media channels, traffic to websites, email campaign performance, help ticket requests, and project requests. 

Data Management: the Business Analyst Intern I is tasked with the following:

  • Updating a data dashboard on a regular basis
  • Maintaining organized files

Data Reporting: As part of the SLC team, the Business Analyst Intern I will occasionally:

  • Assemble impact reports for special projects on an occasional basis
  • Present data to stakeholders including student interns and professional staff
  • Facilitate conversations and content planning informed by data collected

The Business Analyst Intern I may be eligible to apply for the Business Analyst Intern II position after successful completion of at least 1 semester and invitation from the supervisor.

 

OFFICE HOURS:

  • Students will be scheduled to work within standard business hours; M-F, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Total hours per week is flexible with the student’s availability and desire but will not exceed 20 hours per week.
  • After a probationary/onboarding period, remote work will be available.

  • Career management: seek out and identify opportunities to strengthen your resume and portfolio

 

QUALIFICATIONS THAT WILL HELP YOU SUCCEED

The skills and qualifications below will aid in your success but are not required.

  • Experience in Excel and Tableau
  • Experience in PowerPoint and Canva
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to follow direction
  • Organization and time management skills
  • Ability to represent the University of Tennessee effectively and positively
  • Exhibit leadership, initiative, dependability, discipline, and self-confidence
  • Recommendation from current or former faculty/supervisors/mentors
  • While there are no required prerequisites, students who have completed or are on track to take Information Management 242 and Business Analytics 464 have reported feeling prepared for this internship and finding direct connections between their coursework and the internship assignments.

 

INTERNSHIP REQUIREMENTS

Depending on the needs of your major/minor or program, practicum or capstone credit may be supplemented by this position. If you are seeking to utilize this, please reach out to your advisor and our team to discuss further development.

Students must be currently enrolled and full-time; must maintain a minimum 2.5 institutional GPA and maintain good conduct and academic standing; must pass a background check.
