Photography Assistant Intern

Role Description:

This is an in-person position located in Chicago. This position reports to the Photographer for daily direction. The ideal candidate is capable of building sets, familiar with lighting and photography equipment, and has a background in photography and/or videography. This position requires someone who is: organized, proactive, excellent at on-the-spot problem-solving, receptive to creative feedback, and works well in fast-paced environments while maintaining quality professional work. A candidate with food and beverage (especially cocktail-making) experience is a plus.

 

You Will:

 

  • Help create small sets. This may sometimes require heavy lifting (up to 30lbs), painting, tiling, and light construction. 
  • Assist lead photographer with setup and breakdown of photo shoot, including lighting backdrops, and camera equipment.
  • Act as a second pair of eyes during shoots–monitor composition, lighting, focus, and styling.
  • Maintain cleanliness (example: washing dishes, wiping down surfaces, etc.) and organization within the studio during and after shoots.
  • Make delicious-looking cocktails using provided ingredients, tools, and recipes.
  • Run errands when necessary (finding components in our warehouse, shopping for produce, picking up props, buying building materials).
  • Assist logistically and creatively during shoots as directed by the photographer. 

 

Strongly Preferred Skills:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in photography, visual arts, media, or related field
  • Basic knowledge of DSLR camera, lighting equipment, and photo shoot workflows.
  • Strong interest in commercial photography and/or content creation.
  • An understanding of photography and videography, including composition, lighting, and storyboarding.
  • Comfortable using Adobe Creative Suite, especially Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Illustrator.

Pay: $18/hour
