Preschool Teacher

Introduction

ALEFE, Inc. is an educational 501c3 aimed at using arts, media production, storytelling and other creative means to teach Arabic language and culture to a growing population of native and non-native students alike. ALEFE Bilingual Childcare Center (ABC Center) is a State-licensed childcare center providing a Dual-language immersion preschool to children ages 2-5 years old.

Position Description

The Child Care Center teacher will develop creative hands-on activities and projects for preschoolers, provide a safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow, monitor and assess each child’s progress and provide feedback to parents/guardians, collaborate with other teachers and staff to ensure a comprehensive educational experience, maintain a clean and organized classroom environment, ensure the health and safety of all children in the classroom, help in handling and serving meals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teaching a high quality, developmentally and culturally appropriate curriculum to meet the physical, cognitive, social, intellectual and emotional needs of the children.
  • Prepares daily and weekly lesson plans and provide various experiences and activities for children including songs, games and storytelling.
  • File, photocopy and perform any office related duties to prepare the classes, worksheets, and curriculum.
  • Create a positive learning atmosphere, making certain that he/she meets the needs of the individual child in terms of social, emotional and intellectual development.
  • Make certain that the classroom is pleasant, orderly and conducive to learning.
  • Be familiar with emergency procedures.
  • Supervise and manage the children and aides in the class.
  • Ensure children are supervised at all times.
  • Assist the children with their daily needs in response to their age and development level group
  • Help build children's esteem, establish routines and provide positive guidance
  • Implement positive discipline when required.
  • Observe children and make note of progress.

Minimum Requirements 

Ability to meet State and/or accreditation requirements for education and experience, a CDA, college degree (associates, bachelors, or masters) or a minimum of 12 semester credits towards and early childhood education or and ECE related field, experience working in a licensed childcare facility, CPR and First Aid certified (or ability to comply within 30 days), and passion for working with children. Bilingual candidates (Arabic) highly encouraged to apply.

Special skills needed to perform the job

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, patience and compassion suitable for working with young children, creativity and flexibility to adapt lesson plans to meet the needs of individual children, knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education, ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.

Lines of supervision

ALEFE Child Care Center Teacher will report and be supervised by the Child Care Center Director.

Work hours

8:00am-3:00pm

Compensation 

$22/h

  • Be eligible to work in the US
  • Be enrolled at least half-time across all Los Rios campuses (six units for spring or fall; three units for summer)
  • Have a 2.0 GPA or higher
